A bit about darren
Event host, stage host, voiceover and freelance radio presenter, Darren Lethem is a Hull lad, born and bred, and has worked on local radio since 1997. He is now one of the most recognisable voices on radio, and faces on stage across East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.
Darren has always loved hosting on stage or at events and gets a real buzz from interacting with the audience. He is personable and knows the local and surrounding areas, and the people who live here, very well so can easily build a rapport with them. He has been an event host at the massively popular Christmas Light Switch On events in Hull's city centre ( on over 10 occasions now ), as well as at light switch ons all over Yorkshire and Lincolnshire for a number of years, where he has interviewed and introduced the special music guests and local celebrities,. He has also hosted the stage at Rock Challenge finals events, including at The Barbican Centre York, and Grimsby Auditorium, where local schools get involved in a big national dance competition, so there's lot of interacting with the kids, audience and judges. He also got to host the National Final featuring schools from all over the UK and Ireland.
Other events hosted include Disability Sports Humber Awards, Teacher of the Year Awards, NHS Awards, Humberside Fire and Rescue Awards each year, Centrica Renewables Awards, Hull BID Awards and many charity events including Life of Riley, the SOS Ball, Humber Breast Cancer Now Annual Ball and The Great Priory Bake Off. These events require Darren to compare for the evening as well as do the auction at the end of the night. He is requested back on many occasions for his skill in helping raise as much money as possible with his enthusiasm and knowledge on the auction. Plus in 2022 and 2023 Darren hosted the REYTA's ( Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards ) at the Bridlington Spa. These are arguably the biggest awards in East and North Yorkshire. To add to this he hosted the Yorkshire Beauty Awards and the Sailors Charity Association Sportsman's Lunch every year. 2023 also saw Darren become a corporate host at Hull City, hosting a couple of the lounges on matchday.
Darren's love of music is evident in the various music events he has hosted. He was the first host of Tribfest when it started in 2007 and has hosted ever since, watching the event grow to what it is today, a 4 day and 4 night event which is now the world largest tribute band festival. As well as hosting the main stage at Tribfest, Darren hosts the Tribfest At Sea mini cruises and the Tribfest events held in Hull City Centre a few times a year. He has also hosted the main stage at Moonbeams, a wonderful music festival held in East Yorkshire.
Being a huge sports fan has seen Darren host and commentate on The Hull Marathon, Humber Bridge Half Marathon, The Rumble By The Humber, The Round The World Clipper Race and cover Hull City, Hull FC, Hull Kingston Rovers and North Ferriby United at Wembley.
Other events hosted include - 80s Rewind Tour at Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Elvis Weekender at Bridlington Spa, The Made In Hull Mini Cruise for P&O Ferries, Smash Hits Poll Winners Party Tour, Party In The Park, Feel The Noise Live, UB40, Status Quo and Paul Young in concert, Bridlington Real Ale Festival, Yum Festival of Food and Drink in Hull City Centre, The Beauty Box, Devils Kitchen and much more besides.
Darren is also a regular to doing voiceovers. You may hear his dulcit tones on your next training video or presentation. He is available to do voice work if you require a warm, friendly and natural voice. Radio wise Darren hosts an evening show and weekend show on This Is The Coast, the radio station for all along the Yorkshire Coast.
So, as you can see, Darren has a huge wealth of experience in a wide range of stage and event hosting areas, and venues, as well as being a very experienced radio presenter.
